Lagardère Travel Retail has been awarded the highly strategic duty free concession at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, marking a major milestone in its global expansion. The win follows a competitive tender and signals the beginning of a long-term joint venture with Royal Schiphol Group.
Under the agreement, Lagardère Travel Retail will acquire 70% of the company that will operate the business, with the remaining 30% held by Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
The new partnership goes beyond traditional retail contracts. Set to begin operations in 2025, the joint venture reflects a shared ambition to redefine airport retail through enhanced passenger experiences, greater commercial innovation, and increased transparency between airport and retailer. The agreement emphasizes sustainability, local identity, and digital engagement as key pillars of future operations.
Both parties describe the collaboration as a transformational step—combining Schiphol’s passenger insights and infrastructure vision with Lagardère’s global retail expertise and operational excellence.
